How to join AMSA UK

Membership Registration Regulations 

If you wish to participate in the activities we hold, including traveling to Asia for the annual conference, as well as to meet other Asian medical students, then you will have a good reason to join us.

To be a student member of the AMSA-UK, one must fulfill all of the following criteria:

1. Currently a medical student studying at an approved UK medical school,

2. 2.Have a keen interest in Asian health and medicine,
   

3. 3.Have lived or worked in Asia for an extended period of time (minimum of 3 years)* and
   

4. 4.Your membership must be approved by the committee
   

*If you are unsure of your status, do send us your application form anyway as exceptions may be considered at the discretion of the committee.

Doctors and other healthcare professionals are allowed to join as supportive members. They will have full access to AMSA-UK events, although their priority for being a delegate for AMSC comes after other student members.

Membership fees are as follows:

Medical students

Members are required to pay £5 in order to become a member for the duration of the academic year at the time of application (until end of September of the following year). 

Healthcare professionals

Supporting members are required to pay £15 for the duration of the academic year at the time of application (until end of September of the following year) 

Application forms can be posted back to us along with a cheque or postal order, or sent electronically to us via email and online banking.

Other important information on membership

To be a committee member:

The member must have lived in one of the *AMSA countries for more than 3 years.

*AMSA countries: The Asian and Oceanian countries which has been approved by AMSA-international. Currently, they are Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Taiwan, The Philippines and Thailand. 

If you are a delegate:

You must must must pay your membership fees, otherwise you will not be credited in any AMSA work or publications as only AMSA UK members are permitted to do so.
